MoFo Awards announced for 2011

In the third year of the MoFo Best in Britain Awards, the organisers have switched back to the old system of the original BIBAs and chosen the Top 30 restaurants in the country plus 70 supporting restaurants to make up the Top 100.

The awards were decided by a mix of public votes via The Federation of Specialist Restaurants (fedrest.com) website and our editorial panel and include some exciting new restaurants as well as several old favourites.

70 other restaurants all over Britain have been given awards to support the 'Top 30' to bring the total of MoFo award winning restaurants up to 100 as in the past. These restaurants range from Malik's in Cookham to Dilli in Altrincham ; Indian Ocean in Ashton under Lyne to Sesame in New Malden.

With some 9500 'Indian' restaurants in Britain it is regarded as a considerable achievement to get into the Best in Britain Top 100 but it also shows the tremendous quality in depth of the industry. Several establishments such as the very interesting Venue in Dudley narrowly missed out this year indicated the high standards in the industry.

Next year is, of course, London Olympic year so the pressure will soon be on to be part of the 2012 awards list and be a recommended restaurant for visitors to the London Olympics from the world over
