Created in December 2018 by three friends with different backgrounds and a shared vision – Back to the origins – the establishment focuses on simple and honest cuisine based on regional Italian ingredients and wine culture from Piedmont.
Atmosphere
St. Moritz is about luxury that smells like fresh snow and old champagne. But La Scarpetta doesn’t play that game. There is no ostentatious glitz here – just the warmth of wooden tables, semi-darkness and jazz, which sounds as if someone turned it on for himself, not for the guests.
The waiters do not hurry, because the atmosphere does not tolerate hurry either. Here everything happens in its own rhythm – slow, sincere, almost intimate.
Cuisine
The menu is like traveling around Italy without having to cross the border. Each dish is an exercise in simplicity brought to perfection.
classicburratawith croutons, caramelized onions and arugula (Burrata con cipolla caramellata e rucola) – $25Grigliata di Verdure – grilled vegetables (eggplant, zucchini, peppers) dressed with olive oil and balsamic sauce.Crostini con cipolla caramellata e stracciatella – croutons with caramelized red onions, creamystracciatella and arugula – $18Tagliatelle alla Bolognese – homemade pasta with bolognese sauce and freshly grated parmesan – $32Focaccia della casa –homemadefocaccia with olive oil, salt and herbs (sometimes served with prosciutto or stracciatella) – $13$
the aroma that fills the room before the dish touches the table. And then there are the fish plates, salads, and antipasti, which are served in sharing format: everything can be shared like a good evening with those around you.
Wine
The wine list is not just a list, but a geography of emotions. From Barolo from Piedmont to light whites from Switzerland, with notes of honey and mountain herbs. Here, the waiter doesn’t just recommend wine – he tells stories about winemakers like old friends. A glass of Barolo costs about CHF 16, but its aftertaste lingers longer than an evening on the town.
Prices
In a world where everything has a price, La Scarpetta seems fair. The average check is $55 per person, and dinner with wine is $130-$160 This is not a “one time photo” restaurant, it’s a place you want to come back to.
Distinctions
This restaurant has received prestigious recognition – in 2025, it received the Bib Gourmand award from Michelin, which means “high quality cuisine at a reasonable price.”
This is not just an award – it is a confirmation of the philosophy of the establishment: simplicity, honesty and taste above all else. La Scarpetta has proved that real gastronomy does not need glitz and status. All it takes is sincere products, a precise idea and love for what you do, and even in the midst of Alpine luxury you can create a restaurant where everything is based not on show, but on taste.
For whom
For those who appreciate taste, silence and details. For those who enjoy conversation at the table more than loud music behind the wall. For those who want to experience Italy without leaving the Alps.
Bottom line
La Scarpetta is not just a restaurant in St. Moritz. It is a point of balance between luxury and simplicity. A place where dining becomes a ritual rather than an event. Where jazz is intertwined with the aroma of truffle and a glass of wine with the warmth of human conversation.
Sometimes true luxury is simply well-cooked pasta and the feeling that you don’t have to prove anything.
